The Opportunity
We are seeking an innovative and passionate professional to join our team as the Kenya Growth Director based in Nairobi Kenya. This role will work closely with the LG team and external stakeholders to expand our footprint across Kenya.
The ideal candidate is a results-focused professional with vision and an entrepreneurial spirit. You will work across the region and draw on best practice from the private sector and the public health sector to grow a business that has the potential to dramatically improve the health and livelihoods of low income consumers.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Growth Strategy
· Partner with the Country Director and senior team to develop the geographic and operational growth plan for Kenya.
· Strengthen expansion processes by rapidly testing and learning from new ideas and approaches to build highky efficient and effective operations to allow us to grow and manage at scale.
· Build knowledge of best practice of operations, filed team management, and distribtion systems in our space and emerging trends.
GrowthPlanning and Execution
· Establish detailed workplans and oversee execution for geographic and operations growth in Kenya, coordinating with training, procurement, technology and government relations in order to achieve our ambitious targets for new branches, coverage in counties, and increased health promoter numbers whilst meeting all our key health impact KPIs.
· Work with the Government Relations team to develop strong county and sub county government realaionships and ensure agreements are in place.
· Collabroate closely with the Country Director and Field Operations Director to recruit and select field staff and ensure they are fully trained ready for new branches.
· Oversee the selection, recruitment, and training of all new Community Health Promoters (CHPs). Ensure that all local administration officials and county health officials are on board.
· Identify potential risks to the execution of the plan and build actions plans to mitigate these.
· Work with the Country Director to budget and carefully monitior and control costs.
· Oversee the identification of new branch locations and premises. Ensure branches are secured, fully set up and operational.
Drive Operational Excellence
· Build trusted relationships with all the field operations team ensuring an excellent hand over of day to day branch operations.
· Understand all elements of Living Goods’ model and methods particularly in field operations.
· Review branch metrics with the Field Operations Director to drive learnings and improvements to ensure LG meets all health impact goals.
· Recruit, hire and develop the expansion team. Provide line management, mentorship and support to your team.
· Shape organizational strategy as a core member of the Living Goods Kenya and global senior management team and contribute ideas for improving Living Goods.
Key Measures of Success
· All branches and CHPs meet health impact KPIs and branches meet efficiency targets including cost per capita.
· Branches open on time, to budget and to a high standard
· Number of active CHPs against plan.
· Staff you hire perform highly and earn promotions.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Attributes
· Minimum 8 years of experience in managing teams of at least 50 people.
· Deep experience in salesforce management, or health delivery management in Africa or Asia.
· Strong financial management and spreadsheet analysis skills.
· University degree in business or related field. Post graduate qualification in business a plus.
· Willingness to travel across Kenya and regularly stay up-country with an estimated of 30-50% on the road.
