Living Goods is seeking an extraordinary Business Development Associate who will exert strong leadership by supporting a broad range of development and communications priorities that enable the organization to achieve its ambitious goals. The Business Development Associate will be a Rockstar researcher and systems-builder. We’re looking for a creative mind to conduct research and analysis on prospective donors (individuals, foundations, corporations) to identify new funding opportunities. You will develop and hold expert knowledge of the market to create strategies for the Business Development team to connect with and engage new donors. The second critical part of the role is to strengthen and create critical systems and data related to grants and donor stewardship, improving the efficiency of our donor data. While keeping the ship running for our development team, you’ll have the opportunity to jump into strategic projects and help move us more quickly towards our revenue goals.

The Opportunity
New Donor Research and Pipeline Development: Conduct research and analysis on prospective donors (individuals, foundations, corporations) to identify new funding opportunities. Think creatively to help surface new methods for sourcing these opportunities. Help identify strategies to connect with and engage new donors. Manage our prospective donor data and pipeline to ensure our records are up to date. Keep the team organized, informed, and on track as we pursue and pitch these new donors.
Systems, Processes & Donor Data Management: Manage all development-related data in our CRM database and files to accurately reflect ongoing cultivation and stewardship activities and progress against fundraising goals. Ensure our team is armed with the highest quality, up-to-date information on every donor and translate this data into useful reports, analysis, and prep materials to keep us on track and focused on our goals.
Proposal and Reporting Support: Support the Development team by helping to collate information, pull together attachments, and create first drafts of new proposals and reports. Play a role in liaising with other teams, including those in the field in East Africa to ensure we have the latest updates and information as we structure new proposals and update our donors. Be an excellent editor with an eye for detail to ensure that all of our written materials are polished and ready to present to funders.
Team Coordination, Donation Processing, and Administrative Support: Be the critical engine of our team by managing calendars, keeping the team up to date on latest trends in the field, supporting the organization of team meetings, and helping to prepare the team for donor meetings, conferences, and events. Ensure we are in compliance with donor requirements and providing excellent customer service to our funders by processing donations, thanking donors in a timely manner, ensuring all payments come in, and fielding donor requests and questions.
Your Background
· Bachelor’s degree required and at least 1 to 3 years professional experience in business development.
· Exposure to fundraising/development preferred.
· Experience working with donor management and CRM software preferred.
· Experience providing support to senior executives preferred.
· Demonstrated passion for Living Goods’ mission and alignment with its values.
· Superb communication skills across all mediums that engage and inspire others.
· Superior customer service orientation.
· Strong time management and prioritization skills.
· Exceptional judgment, including a high level of discretion when handling confidential materials.
· Ability to quickly learn new systems and tools such as donor databases, Relationship Science, Wealth Engine, and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
